Rules

One #1 spot. Real money. Public record. Read this before you play.

01What you are buying

A takeover buys placement: your X identity displayed in the #1 position on this site, links routed to your X profile, and inclusion in every public announcement of the takeover, for as long as your reign lasts.

You are buying the attention delivered during your reign. You are not buying a guaranteed reign length, a guaranteed number of profile visits, followers, a resale value, or the right not to be dethroned. Your reign can end sixty seconds after it starts.

02How the price moves

Opening price: $1.00
Every takeover: price rises +15%
First 2 hours of a reign: price holds at the full markup
After that: price falls 2% per hour
Absolute floor: $1.00

The price can and will fall below what the current ruler paid. This is intentional. A long reign becomes a cheap target. The ruler paid for the attention received while ruling — not for a protected position.

03Revenge credit

When you are dethroned, you bank 20% of the price paid to remove you as revenge credit. It cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or refunded. It applies automatically the next time you take #1, reducing the cash required.

04Identity

Your X handle is your identity here. Display of a handle links to that handle's real X profile. Taking #1 with a handle you do not control is grounds for removal of the reign without refund. When Sign in with X is live, authentication will be required.

05The record

Every reign — who, what was paid, how long it lasted, who ended it, and the attention it generated — is permanent and public. Takeovers may be announced automatically on X with both handles named. By taking #1 you consent to being part of the public record and the public story.

06Attention metrics

Profile visits are counted first-party: every outbound click to a ruler's X profile passes through this site and is recorded. Unique visitors are deduplicated per day; obvious bot traffic is filtered. We report what we can measure ourselves and label everything else as context, not attribution.

07Fair play

08Payments

All takeovers are final. No refunds. Being dethroned quickly, disliking the price curve, or regretting the purchase are not grounds for a refund. This is a market for a position that is designed to be taken from you.

During the prototype period, payments are simulated and no money changes hands. When live payments launch, they will be processed by Stripe; this section will be updated with the payment terms.

09The house

Takeover payments go to the operator of this site. This is a paid-placement product — not a wager, not a raffle, not an investment. Nothing here is a promise of profit, followers, or outcomes. It is a scoreboard you can pay to sit on top of.
